Watch Fan Videos Of Braun Strowman And Big Show Exploding The Ring

WWE Raw ended this week with Braun Strowman and The Big Show having a monstrous match-up. The match didn’t quite have a definitive ending though. There was no pinfall, count-out, disqualification, or knock out.

The only thing that was really defeated was the ring itself. Braun Strowman delivered an unbelievable superplex to The Big Show and the ring exploded underneath them. Fans remember when a WWE ring exploded like this on June 12th, 2003 when Brock Lesnar and Big Show’s match ended in a very similar fashion.

But it’s hard to argue tonight’s Raw main event was anything short of breathtaking.

Fans in attendance captured the moment from their perspective. It really is outstanding from any viewpoint. The last time Braun Strowman and Big Show clashed, we had a feeling this might happen.

You can tell how they pulled it off if you pay attention to the different angles. Big Show revealed in an interview with Sports Illustrated a while ago just how they pulled off the initial exploding ring spot with Brock Lesnar in 2003.

“We did a spot right before we broke the ring where we’re both down and they shoot a real close-up of both of us selling” Big Show told SI in 2015. “Well in that time, [WWE Stunt Coordinator] Ellis [Edwards] had airbags under the ring. So they had lifted the ring a couple inches. So now, when I’m standing on that top corner, that ring is like standing on marbles. Because it’s moving. Of course now I’ve got my fat ass up in the air, 500 pounds on a not very stable surface … So then the ring broke. I just remember when it happened because … you don’t know how the stunt is going to look. But man, it was so perfectly timed the way we did it and Ellis did a great job of setting up. That thing collapsed and everybody they bought it so long.”

Regardless if WWE used the same tactics tonight (which is likely), the exploding ring spot was well deserved. We can’t wait for Big Show and Braun Strowman to go at it again. But it might be a good idea to make sure the ring is reinforced next time.
