WarnerMedia Doesn’t Want AEW To Sign Former Tag Team Champions

Over the last few years fans have seen some interesting names sign with All Elite Wrestling, and with all of the free agents currently on the market there’s no telling who could pop up.

One team fans shouldn’t expect to see in AEW is former ROH World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes. Fightful Select reports that WarnerMedia sources have confirmed that a person of influence in the company did not want AEW to sign The Briscoes. According to the report Jay Briscoe’s homophobic tweets from 2013 are the specific reason why WarnerMedia doesn’t want The Briscoes on the roster.

Jay Briscoe did apologize for the tweets, and it’s also being said that ROH sources confirmed there were no further issues with the team after that.

As of a month ago there were no plans for FTR and The Briscoes to have a match in AEW, ROH or elsewhere. However, now that Tony Khan has purchased ROH that might have changed, and it’s being said that the match is not off the table for Supercard of Honor. Both The Briscoes and FTR are open to the idea of facing off in a match, and multiple promoters have reportedly confirmed they’re willing to pay significant money by indie standards to book the match.

The Briscoes are the current ROH World Tag Team Champions, but it’s not clear if they will be a part of the new ROH owned by Tony Khan. Stay tuned for updates.
