On Sunday night Becky Lynch defended her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair & Asuka in the first ever women’s TLC match, and in the end it was Asuka who walked out with the belt.
The Age of Asuka has begun and the new SmackDown Women’s Champion told Tokyo-Sports.co that Vince McMahon hugged her after she won the belt, and she also revealed what the Chairman of the Board said to her after the big match.
“It was good, congratulations,” McMahon said to Asuka. “I was really happy,” he added.
The new champion went on to say that she hopes to compete in a title match at WrestleMania 35 in April.
It was recently reported that Asuka is currently receiving a renewed push thanks to the reaction she received from the live crowd during the segment where Becky Lynch had to name her replacement for Survivor Series.
Vince McMahon was reportedly caught off guard by the reaction she received during the segment and decided to add her to the title match.
With Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair focused on Ronda Rousey, it will be interesting to see how the SmackDown Women’s Title picture progresses over the next few months on the Road to WrestleMania.
