WrestleMania 36 has gone through some huge changes over the last few weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the event was moved from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.
Sports Illustrated is reporting that at one point Vince McMahon was considering holding WrestleMania 36 in an empty Raymond James Stadium.
However, for reasons outside of Vince McMahon’s control the idea was nixed.
It was noted that it would have been a bad look for the state of Florida to allow Vince to hold Mania at a stadium during a pandemic.
It was also noted that the aesthetics of Superstars performing in an empty Performance Center have been challenging and the issues would have been magnified in a stadium.
McMahon then made the call to move the event to the Performance Center, as canceling would have gone against his principles and sensibilities.
WWE is also viewed as a prime candidate to hold the first major event with fans in the United States once things go back to normal.
