Earlier this year it was revealed that Vince McMahon paid millions of dollars to suppress allegations of sexual misconduct, and he officially announced his retirement in July. However, it was recently reported that Vince is interested in returning to WWE.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that even Vince McMahon’s allies who never expected him to leave were negative on the idea of him returning to the company.
One longtime supporter noted that Vince could upend the board since he controls 80 percent of the voting stock, and that if he were to do that the class action lawsuits from shareholders would cripple WWE. It was added that the TV networks likely wouldn’t be favorable toward a Vince McMahon return and a shareholder revolt could put the whole company in danger.
Vince McMahon reportedly has the potential to make a lot of money if he lets negotiations for TV rights go smoothly, but now that it’s rumored he wants to return the networks will have to ask, “What’s going on with Vince?”
It was also noted that Vince McMahon’s return could lead to a strong negative perception of professional wrestling and wrestling fans now that the allegations are out as Vince would likely get a massive ovation if he appeared on TV.
