The WWE TLC pay-per-view was built around The Shield reunion match, which ultimately didn’t happen due to Roman Reigns being pulled from the show, and now it seems that another big reunion was pitched for the show.
Finn Balor was originally set to face Bray Wyatt at the event, but Wyatt was also pulled from the pay-per-view. AJ Styles ended up replacing Wyatt, but Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet noted on Wrestling Sheet Radio that a Bullet Club reunion was pitched for TLC.
“I was told that when they were coming up with different pitches for the match that Finn was gonna have as a replacement for him versus Sister Abigail, one of the things that was brought up was a 4 on 4 match where he would team with Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows and AJ Styles to basically have a Bullet Club reunion of sorts.”
The idea was for Styles, Balor, Gallows and Anderson to come together and face off against 4 unknown opponents, but it was Vince McMahon who shot the idea down.
Vince has a reputation for not wanting to use ideas that aren’t created by WWE, so it’s not really surprising that he nixed the idea of a Bullet Club reunion.
After all, it’s 2017, and he’s only just warmed up to the idea of using the famed WCW War Games match, and the Starrcade name, both of which WWE has owned since 2002.
So, fans didn’t see a Bullet Club reunion at TLC, but we did get to see Balor vs. Styles, which was “too sweet” to say the least.
