WWE started releasing talents back in April, and the releases continued this week when the company announced that Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, Lana, Buddy Murphy, Santana Garrett and Ruby Riott had all been released.
It was noted on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio that Vince McMahon just didn’t get the in-ring style of Buddy Murphy and Aleister Black. Dave Meltzer noted that people like Vince McMahon have a narrow definition in regards to what they think wrestling should be, which is why so many wrestlers fail in WWE.
Kenny Omega was used as an example when it was noted that had he signed with WWE he likely would have failed unless he changed his in-ring style.
It’s also being reported that when it came to Buddy Murphy, Vince McMahon just “never saw it” with him, which is why the former Cruiserweight Champion wasn’t being used after his storyline with Seth Rollins ended.
