After spending several months sitting on the sidelines Mustafa Ali recently made his return to Monday Night Raw. Ali previously went public with his release request, but he’s been getting TV time on the red brand for the last two weeks.
This week on Raw, Mustafa Ali faced off against United States Champion Theory and The Miz in a championship contender’s match, and it was Ali who ended up on the losing end.
It seems that Mustafa Ali came back with a bang, but Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the lack of crowd reaction Ali received on Raw wasn’t a good sign, and it could be an indication to Vince McMahon that the push isn’t working.
Meltzer added that usually WWE stars get two to three weeks and a lot of times, “the mentality is, ‘You’ve got your three weeks, get over,’ and when you don’t, there you are.”
It’s not exactly clear where things will go from here for Mustafa Ali, but it was noted that the two and half minute match that he lost on Raw didn’t help him at all. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
