The last few weeks have been rough for Vince McMahon as the XFL shut down for a second time, and WWE also had to make some big budget cuts due to coronavirus.
WWE has been doing shows from the Performance Center in Orlando in front of no fans, and it’s no big secret that Raw ratings have been trending down.
Vince McMahon noted that ratings are down on WWE’s first quarter earnings call on Thursday, but he didn’t blame the declining ratings on the pandemic.
McMahon said that Raw ratings are down because the brand is introducing so many new characters and trying to get them over. Vince predicted a rise in ratings once the new characters get over.
“We may take this negative and turn it into a positive with ratings. Smackdown has had virtually no change. Raw has suffered,” McMahon said. “That’s not necessarily the environment because we brought in new talent and it takes time to get new talent over and with a lot of the performers it takes a while. With new talent, it’ll take a little while. Raw’s ratings will bounce back considerably.”
