Over the years there are many wrestling entrance themes that have become iconic with Hulk Hogan’s “Real American” theme being one example. The song is one of the most recognizable tracks in the world of professional wrestling and it sounds like it was almost passed on to a current WWE star.
Mustafa Ali recently spoke to Sportskeeda’s WrestleBinge about coming up with ideas for a new character and he noted that he almost used “Real American” as his entrance music.
There were plans for Ali to become a political character who would stand at a podium and campaign against his opponents. Vince McMahon was said to have been on board with the idea, but ultimately it was nixed because they didn’t think the political character would do well in front of a live audience.
“I remember talking to Vince [McMahon] and saying, ‘Hey, [the song] would really get this character over because there’s nothing more American in this world than Mustafa Ali. What if I came out to ‘Real American?'”
Mustafa Ali had a big night on Raw this week as he earned a shot at Gunther’s Intercontinental Championship when he won a battle royal. Ali will challenge Gunther for the gold at Night of Champions later this month. Stay tuned for updates.
