Raw is a show that’s constantly being changed, and it sounds like there was originally a different plan on the table for the main event of this week’s show.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Vince McMahon changed plans for the main event at the producers meeting.
Original plans called for Randy Orton & Ricochet & Humberto Carillo to beat AJ Styles & Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, with Rey Mysterio helping the faces win and perhaps countering McIntyre.
However, Vince McMahon wanted plans to be changed to Randy Orton not wanting to team with those guys, so Mysterio was put in the match.
McMahon also wanted Orton to hit the RKO out of nowhere on AJ Styles, and to make that work he wanted AJ to be coming off a pin. Ricochet ended up being the unlucky one because he didn’t want Mysterio to get beat.
