Everyone remembers the XFL from back in 2001 and if you don’t then ESPN did an entire 30 For 30 on it recently and you can brush up on all your history here because we did in-depth coverage about the special.

Most fans would think that the XFL is a thing of the past along with Furbies and pump-up sneakers. But much like the Furby and sneakers with pumps in them, everything has the capability of coming back sooner or later.

Rumors have broken saying that Vince McMahon has an interesting announcement coming up that might result in some big news regarding a possible reincarnation of the XFL.

When reached regarding the matter, WWE spokespeople merely say:

“Vince McMahon has established and is personally funding a separate entity from WWE, Alpha Entertainment, to explore investment opportunities across the sports and entertainment landscapes, including professional football. Mr. McMahon has nothing further to announce at this time.”

Deadspin writer David Bixinspin further commented on the matter saying, “Worth noting that the Alpha Entertainment statement came in response to me asking WWE to ‘confirm or deny’ the XFL relaunch rumor.”

He also went on to say, “So…if this is not a WWE project, it’s either not the XFL or the company is selling the IP to Vince. Not sure what to think of either.”

This is indeed a very interesting turn of events. We will have to keep a very close eye on this situation because only time could tell how big of a change time could play in this situation. With the growing scrutiny on the NFL, perhaps Vince McMahon is going to seize the opportunity and dust off this old idea for a new generation?

The XFL could very well be a competitor for the top pro football league in the country if Vince McMahon has anything to say about it. Then again, we’ll just have to wait and see what kind of announcement McMahon plans on making on January 25th, 2018.

  1. I think he’s just creating an acquisition company in order to buy Impact Wrestling and/or ROH. See, Vince created the W Acquisition Company in 2000, and when he bought WCW, he merged it into the W Acquisition Company and created WCW, Inc., which is now a WWE subsidiary.

  2. Call it nXtFL

If Vince works with the NFL, Creates it like the NBA Summer League. And doesn’t have WWE advertise let it be a organic. All the lesson learnt from the the First XFL
