It was announced a few days ago that Vince McMahon would be making his return on Monday Night Raw this week and WWE had been teasing that Vince would be making some sort of announcement regarding who will be running SmackDown.
When Vince McMahon arrived at the Joe Louis Arena, Renee Young asked him why he decided to come to Raw and Vince told her that he just wanted to smell the fresh Detroit air which got a big pop from the crowd. Vince then said that he thinks SmackDown needs something new and he told her that the person in charge of SmackDown will be known as the Commissioner and confirmed that he planned to appoint a new Commissioner on Raw.
At the end of the show Shane McMahon and Stephanie made their way to the ring to wait for Vince. Their father made his way to the ring and grabbed a microphone then told both Shane and Stephanie that he was disappointed in them.
Vince told the siblings that he wanted to see more competition between the two of them and he’s not getting what he wants. He told them both that each one of them would need to convince him that they are worthy of running SmackDown live.
Shane and Stephanie both pleaded their case with their dad and then Vince asked for a drum roll. At the end of the drum roll Vince McMahon announced that Shane McMahon will be running SmackDown live.
Vince then told Shane that he will no longer have any power on Raw and that Stephanie McMahon will be the Commissioner on Monday nights.
He told his kids that they need to impress him and if they can one of them could earn the keys to the castle. He then told them that each of them has to pick a General Manager to run Raw and SmackDown and if they don’t pick a GM he will pick one for them.
After Vince left the ring Stephanie told Shane that she’s going to bury him. Shane told her that she’s scared and it’s game on. Stephanie told him there’s only one game in this business and she’s married to him.
She then slapped him and left the ring.
