NXT has come a long way over the last few years as it’s gone from being a one hour taped show on the WWE Network to a two hour live show that now airs on USA Network.
NXT TakeOver 36 is set to air this weekend, and PWInsider is reporting that WWE plans to tape three episodes of NXT next week following the pay-per-view. It’s also being reported that the current plan calls for NXT to return to live episodes on September 14th.
It appears that there is some unhappiness among USA Network officials as Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast noted that a contact from USA Network had the following reaction to rumors of NXT going back to being a taped show: “A taped show is not what we paid for.”
At this point it’s not clear if WWE will be doing more pre-taped shows for NXT in the future beyond the three episodes that are planned for next week. It was also recently reported that USA Network was unhappy with the recent NXT releases and the rumored changes coming for the brand.
