John Cena recently declared that he would be competing in the Royal Rumble match this year, but the 16 time WWE World Heavyweight Champion seems to have been written out of the show because WWE announced a storyline injury for Cena earlier this week.
Originally plans reportedly called for John Cena and Lars Sullivan to set up an angle that would lead to a WrestleMania match, but those plans appear to be up in the air at this point.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, nothing official has been set for John Cena’s match at WrestleMania 35, and one of the reasons why is because no one knows what’s going to happen with Lars Sullivan.
Triple H recently addressed Lars Sullivan’s status during the NXT TakeOver: Phoenix conference call, and he said that the company is moving forward with Sullivan.
Lars Sullivan has been told that he’s welcome to return whenever he’s ready, and internally there’s said to be an understanding of the situation.
