Toni Storm picked up a big win over Marina Shafir at the Revolution pay-per-view earlier this month and she also came face to face with the one and only Ronda Rousey. Originally Storm was supposed to face Marina Shafir in a no holds barred match on the following episode of Dynamite, but AEW shared a video ahead of episode that showed Storm laid out in her locker room after she was taken out by a mystery attacker.
Dave Meltzer shared an update on the situation on Wrestling Observer Radio and noted that Toni Storm will be out of action for a “long, long time” but she is not injured.
“On the Toni Storm thing, it appears she’s not gonna be wrestling for a long, long time, and this was something that they found out on Wednesday. It was not an injury or anything like that.
On Wednesday, she’s there. She is set up to wrestle in this match, and they had to do this emergency angle to take her out and put Mina Shirakawa in. They, on the day, on Wednesday, earliest Wednesday morning, certainly all day Tuesday, they were under the impression that she was going to be wrestling.”
As of right now there does not appear to be a timeline for Toni Storm’s return, but her absence will surely be noticeable as Storm has been one of the key figures in the AEW women’s division for years now.
Stay tuned for updates.
