Rusev was originally scheduled to travel to Saudi Arabia with the rest of the WWE crew, but it was recently reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that the story going around is the former United States Champion is dealing with an injury, and that he essentially backed out of the show.
PWInsider is now reporting that Rusev is suffering from a back injury.
It was announced on Monday that Rey Mysterio will be his replacement in the Tuwaiq Trophy Gauntlet Match at Super ShowDown.
It was recently reported that Rusev is in the midst of a contract dispute with WWE, and that him being added to Super ShowDown wasn’t a sign that the dispute had been resolved.
There’s currently no word on when Rusev will be back in action.
