Last week at SummerSlam fans saw Liv Morgan defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey and the match ended in controversy. Liv Morgan tapped out to the armbar as she pinned Ronda Rousey and the referee counted the pin then declared Liv the winner.
After the match Ronda Rousey attacked Liv Morgan and the referee which led to WWE announcing that Rousey had been fined and suspended. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the finish was done as a way for Liv Morgan to retain while also protecting Ronda Rousey while they build toward a likely rematch.
It hasn’t been confirmed that a rematch between Liv and Ronda has been booked for the show, but it’s being reported that Ronda Rousey is set to be a part of Clash at the Castle next month.
In the meantime the expectation is that Ronda Rousey will be off TV as part of the suspension storyline, so it’s not clear exactly when she’ll be returning, but it looks like she’ll be back sooner than later. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
