This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw aired live from Toronto and Rey Mysterio went one on one with Austin Theory. Ultimately it was Theory who picked up the win and after the match The Vision beat down Dragon Lee and Penta. As the beat down was taking place WWE officials checked on Rey and a referee threw up the “X” to call for medical attention.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that he’s heard Rey Mysterio’s injury is “not serious.” At this point exact details regading the injury remain unknown, and it’s not clear if Mysterio will be sidelined. Currently Rey Mysterio is still scheduled to compete in the Royal Rumble this weekend, so more details regarding his status should emerge over the next few days.
Rey Mysterio spent several months sitting on the sidelines last year due to a torn groin which resulted in the former WWE Champion being pulled from the WrestleMania card. He ended up returning to the ring during John Cena’s final Raw at Madison Square Garden when he teamed with Cena and Sheamus to defeat Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh and Finn Balor.
Stay tuned for updates.
