Randy Orton has been out of action since RK-Bro dropped the Raw Tag Team Titles to The Usos last May on SmackDown, and it was reported last year that Orton underwent back fusion surgery. There have been a lot of questions regarding The Viper’s future with WWE as it seems that there’s currently no timetable for his return to in-ring competition.
PWInsider is now reporting that there have been some internal rumblings about Randy Orton within the last week or so which is interesting because there hadn’t been any internal discussion about Randy Orton in some time.
A few months ago Randy’s father “Cowboy” Bob Orton Jr. shared an update on his son’s status during a virtual signing for K & S WrestleFest when he said, “He’s [Randy Orton] coming along. I see him maybe once a week or so. But he’s coming along. He’ll be back in there before you know it.”
There’s currently no word on what could be planned for Randy Orton if he does indeed return to TV, but it’s been reported that WWE has no plans to reunite the RK-Bro tag team. Matt Riddle is also currently off TV after he was suspended last year and there’s no word on when he might be returning.
Bob Orton Jr. suggested during the aforementioned virtual signing that he would like to see Randy feud with Cody Rhodes when he added, “I think Cody [Rhodes versus Randy] would be a hell of a match. I wrestled Dusty a lot of times so, might as well keep it ongoing [Bob smiled].”
Whether or not that will end up happening remains to be seen. Stay tuned for more updates on Randy Orton’s status as they become available.
