Goldberg finished up with WWE a few years ago, but it’s no big secret that the former Universal Champion wants to compete in a retirement match. Last year Goldberg confirmed that he had talked to Nick Khan and Triple H about potentially lacing up the boots one more time, and he confirmed that he will be wrestling at some point this year.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Goldberg is currently set to appear on the January 27th episode of Monday Night Raw. The Hall of Famer previously shot an angle with Gunther, and that is the proposed match. The presumption is that a potential Goldberg vs. Gunther match would not be for the title. It was also noted that it has never been stated that the match would take place at WrestleMania.
Goldberg last stepped into the ring at the Elimination Chamber premium live event in February of 2022 when he challenged Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. The former champion failed to defeat Reigns and it was reported in 2023 that his contract with WWE had expired.
