After Kenny Omega dropped the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to Hiroshi Tanahashi at Wrestle Kingdom 13 a few weeks ago, he announced that he’s leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Some fans thought that might mean Omega would make a surprise appearance in the Royal Rumble match, but he wasn’t legally allowed to do so because Kenny is still under contract with NJPW.
PWInsider is reporting that Kenny Omega is contractually bound to NJPW until February. According to the report, some have have his deal expires on 2/1, while others are claiming it expires on 2/4.
Nothing official can be announced until his deal expires, but it’s expected that Kenny will be signing with All Elite Wrestling.
