Kenny Omega has been one of the top stars in All Elite Wrestling since day one, but unfortunately for Omega he spent the majority of 2022 sitting on the sidelines due to injury.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Kenny Omega’s contract with AEW was originally set to expire at the end of January. However, the former AEW World Champion is being advertised for AEW shows in March.
Meltzer went on to note that Kenny Omega probably hasn’t signed a new contract with AEW because if he did the company likely would have issued a press release like they did when Jon Moxley and Chris Jericho signed new deals. Instead it’s believed that AEW froze Kenny Omega’s contract and extended it due to all the time he missed while he was injured.
It was also speculated that Kenny Omega could be waiting for The Young Bucks’ AEW contracts to expire before making a decision about his future. The Bucks are set to be with AEW until 2024 and Meltzer noted that Kenny and The Bucks could split and make different decisions, but they’ll probably want to move forward as a package deal.
