We’re currently on the road to Night of Champions where a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion will be crowned. Some big names have been competing in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament, but Drew McIntyre has been noticeably absent from WWE programming.
Drew McIntyre last stepped into the ring when he faced off against Sheamus and Gunther at WrestleMania 39 last month in match that saw Gunther retain his Intercontinental Championship. Since then Drew has been out of action and WWE has yet to announce when The Scottish Warrior could return.
Recently there’s been a lot of talk about Drew McIntyre’s contract status with some talk that he could leave the company. Even if the former WWE Champion does decide to leave Drew’s deal is set to expire later this year, so it doesn’t sound like fans should expect to see him appear elsewhere for quite some time.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that there’s no chance of Drew McIntyre showing up at AEW All In because his contract expires months after the show. If Drew McIntyre leaves WWE then AEW would be his most likely destination, but he wouldn’t be able to join the company until 2024.
It’s also being reported that WWE is likely to add more time to Drew McIntyre’s deal due to the time he’s recently missed due to injury which would move the end of his deal back.
