The last few days have been big for WWE fans as The Rock confirmed that at one point he was locked in for a match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, and he also said that he’s open to facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. The Rock later made his surprise return on Friday Night SmackDown which got the wrestling world talking.
When things didn’t work out for Rock vs. Roman at WrestleMania 39 it gave Cody Rhodes a chance to step up, but ultimately he failed to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship when he challenged The Tribal Chief on the Grandest Stage of Them All. Cody attempted to get a rematch the next night which was declined by Roman Reigns. However, it’s been rumored that the rematch could take place at WrestleMania 40 next year.
According to the BWE X account WWE officials were ecstatic with the response to The Rock’s return. At this point in time though there is no agreement in place with The Rock other than a meeting is planned with him to discuss story options.
As of right now it’s being reported that Cody Rhodes is WWE’s priority currently. Whether or not that means we could be getting the Rhodes vs. Reigns rematch at WrestleMania remains unclear as a lot can change between now and WrestleMania 40.
