CM Punk hasn’t been seen in a WWE ring in almost four years, and following his humiliating defeat to Mickey Gall inside The Octagon in his debut back in 2016, he hasn’t been seen fighting for UFC either.
The news surrounding CM Punk and his future has been sparse recently, but White updated UFC fans when it comes to the former WWE Champion’s career and it could mean that Punk may be preparing for his second UFC fight.
The UFC president revealed that Punk was heading to Detroit this Saturday to talk about his UFC future as part of the media launch in Las Vegas yesterday. Detroit is where UFC 218 is taking place this weekend and this could be the biggest hint yet, that Punk could be stepping back into The Octagon.
CM Punk’s switch to MMA wasn’t an easy one, it took much longer than he had initially anticipated, with his debut match pushed back a number of times due to injuries. Punk was then left humiliated by Gall, who many thought would be an easy opponent for the superstar who claimed to have an MMA background that would help him in this transition.
It will be a hard decision for CM Punk to put himself into a position like that once again, but it will be interesting to find out if the former wrestler is done with UFC after one match, or if his loyal wrestling fanbase will be given the opportunity to see him fight again.
