A few weeks ago Austin Aries dropped the Impact World Championship to Johnny Impact in the main event at Bound For Glory, but it was what happened after that got everyone talking.
Aries no sold the finish, and exited the ring right after the pin was counted. He then proceeded to flip off the fans as he walked to the back, and Petey Williams later confirmed he’s no longer under contract with Impact.
However, it was recently reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Impact Wrestling is still high on Austin Aries, and Dave Meltzer noted that he believes Aries will return to Impact.
It’s also believed that the social media feud between Austin Aries and Johnny Impact was a work.
It’s being said that Impact Wrestling officials weren’t happy with Aries and Impact starting a social media feud that wasn’t approved of, but they were happy with the coverage they got heading into Bound For Glory.
