Recently there’s been a lot of talk about AEW potentially signing a new deal with Warner Bros. Discovery and it seems that talks between the two sides have been going well.
Fightful Select is reporting that Warner Bros. Discovery sources confirmed that there’s still red tape to get through, but AEW has received an offer for a long term TV deal. Tony Khan met with David Zaslav of Warner Bros. Discovery in Paris during the Olympics. Both sides reportedly felt that the meeting was productive, and the deal came after that.
A source at WBD called the deal “extensive” but did not elaborate on what that means. The offer is in AEW’s hands and it’s being reviewed. It’s being said that both AEW and WBD seem optimistic that the deal will be agreed to, but there’s no word on when an announcement could be made.
Sources close to the situation have claimed that AEW has been offered “at least double” the amount of their previous deal. It’s not clear if that amount is for the same amount of programming or if additional elements are set to be added.
It’s rumored internally that Warner Bros. Discovery had discussed a “shift in PPV strategy.” Earlier this year WBD reps indicated that any deal discussed would likely have Max in mind.
The expectation from both sides is that the partnership will continue for years to come. All Elite Wrestling’s current deal with WBD runs through the end of this year.
