AEW has some talented announcers on the broadcast team and there’s no denying that when it comes to wrestling commentary Jim Ross has one of the most recognizable voices of all time. However, Ross wasn’t on the most recent episode of AEW Rampage as Paul Wight filled in for the WWE Hall of Famer.
Dave Meltzer recently addressed JR’s status on Wrestling Observer Radio and noted that he was undergoing treatment last week, but Ross isn’t expected to miss any more dates moving forward.
“Jim Ross was not on last night’s show. He was getting treatment on Tuesday and Thursday for the radiation wound he had when he was getting radiation therapy for the skin cancer.
“He told me that he will not be missing any more Fridays, so he’ll be back Wednesday. This was just a tough trip and he was having treatment done, and that’s why Paul Wight was in there (instead of) Jim Ross.”
Stay tuned for more updates on JR’s status as they become available.
