Update On James Storm Leaving Impact Wrestling

James Storm is a TNA veteran, and he’s spent the majority of the last 15 years working for the company. Storm is a former TNA World Heavyweight Champion, a former TNA World Tag Team Champion, and he’s been one of the main players on Impact, but his run with the company recently finished up at the Impact tapings in Canada.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that James Storm is no longer with the company and his contract was running out. The former World Champion’s deal guaranteed him money in the range of $150,000 to $200,000 a year, and Impact reportedly can’t afford contracts like that anymore.

What’s next for Storm is unknown at this point, but it’s been speculated that he may try to join WWE.

James Storm had a brief stint with NXT a few years ago, and he’s said before that the door was left open for a possible return someday.

Storm opted not to sign with WWE after working with NXT for a few months, and the offer he received from Impact at the time was reportedly higher, so given that he would have been working more dates for less money with NXT, it made sense for him to sign with Impact.

James Storm taped his final match with Impact Wrestling at the tapings in Canada on November 9.
