Charlotte dropped the WWE Women’s Championship to Sasha Banks on Monday night and yesterday it was reported via Wrestling Observer Radio that both hosts had heard Charlotte had asked for time off, but that wasn’t confirmed.
F4Wonline.com later posted an update confirming that the story about Charlotte taking time off is false and that the next six weeks of her schedule are being described as “brutal” because she will be busy.
PWInsider has also confirmed that Charlotte has not asked for time off and she’s scheduled for all her upcoming bookings. It’s being reported that WWE decided to switch the title because the creative team wanted to open the “New Era” of Raw with a big surprise in the form of Sasha Banks achieving her dream.
It was also noted that Vince McMahon is more open to switching the belt around to further storylines on Raw now that Charlotte’s run helped to build a foundation for the title. McMahon is said to be a big fan of Charlotte’s work.
The decision was made to go with Sasha Banks because Triple H is a big supporter of her work and it was thought that the title switch would add another layer to their feud. WWE is still planning on having Sasha Banks and Charlotte face off in a rematch.
