World Wrestling Entertainment has been actively recruiting talent from Ring of Honor over the past year or so with several acquisitions showing up on NXT and WWE’s main roster. It was noted in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the pilfering from ROH isn’t likely to end any time soon.
Kyle O’Reilly dropped the ROH World Title at New Japan’s Wrestle Kingdom 11 to Adam Cole. Since then he exited the ROH fold citing that he decided simply not to renew his contract. ROH reportedly hasn’t made any attempts to bring him back and if WWE makes an offer, he is expected to end up in Vince McMahon’s Planet of Powerslams.
Adam Cole’s loss of the ROH World Title and subsequent dismissal from the Bullet Club the night afterwards very well might spell the beginning of Cole’s exit from ROH and entrance into WWE. WWE has been actively trying to recruit Cole for quite some time now, so it was only a matter of working out timing to bring him in, and it looks like that’s going to happen soon.
Bobby Fish is also telling people he’ll be taking indie bookings after his ROH contract ends on March 27th. There is a belief he’ll be looking to jump over to WWE soon as well. Lio Rush and Dalton Castle are also prime names that could be making a leap over to WWE or NXT very soon as well seeing that WWE has expressed some interest in them and their contracts are ending soon as well.
Of course, New Japan is trying to recruit many of the same people WWE officials are looking to bring in. Therefore, we might see some free agents get split up between the two companies, but WWE is certainly a frontrunner in many respects.
