On Sunday night Drew McIntyre won the 30 man Royal Rumble match, and the next night on Raw he declared that he will be challenging Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36.
However, it doesn’t sound like Drew McIntyre was the only name who was being considered for a match against The Beast on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Aleister Black was in the running for a WrestleMania match with Brock Lesnar this year.
The decision was made to go with Drew McIntyre, but it’s being said that Black was “absolutely” in the running for that spot.
Matt Riddle was not considered for the spot, and it’s being said that Riddle’s exclusion was more of a Vince McMahon call than a Paul Heyman decision.
