The Undertaker is without a doubt one of the most iconic Superstars in WWE history, and the dedication to The Deadman character certainly paid off in the long run.
It’s clear that Taker had his character down, but during a 1993 episode of Raw he joined The All Americans and revealed an American flag on the inside of his jacket. During a recent appearance on The Bump the angle was discussed, and The Undertaker explained why he was livid when the idea was pitched.
“Believe me, I’m as big a patriot as will come down the road. I do a lot of work with our veterans and our first responders. But when Vince [McMahon] presented that to me, I was like, ‘There is no way in heck I am gonna walk out there and open my coat with that flag.’
[But] he thought it was so cool because it was the Betsy Ross 13-colony flag, right? And that was what was gonna make it cool. I was livid. I was like, ‘This is not what Undertaker does.’”
According to The Undertaker he never wore the jacket again. He noted that the jacket may still exist, but the flag that was on the inside is gone.
