WWE creative is notorious for changing their plans even after their initial groundwork has been laid out. There were a couple instances of changes that fans had to put up with last night, and none of them left us better for it.
The Amazon United Kingdom store released an early cover for the upcoming Elimination Chamber/WWE Fastlane DVD package (because they’re putting them together now since nobody is buying DVDs anymore). On the Fastlane portion of the cover, it features three men, but only one of them actually appeared on the event.
The fact that The Undertaker was featured would probably mean he was supposed to get involved in the Roman Reigns/Braun Strowman match which ended in Braun losing clean thus destroying his Monster Among Men persona. Fans were speculating and hoping to high heaven Taker would come down and interefere, but apparently, Vince decided to just throw away all that time he’s spent building up Strowman instead.
Brock Lesnar was also on the cover of the United Kingdom DVD which would signify he was supposed to possibly cost Bill Goldberg last night’s match. If that happened there would surely be more smiles going around the WWE Universe on Monday morning instead of everyone feeling like the entire Kevin Owens run was just a sham to put over an ultimate part-timer the month before WrestleMania.
There was another last minute change during WWE Fastlane, but it wasn’t made by the office. Instead, it was kind of a botch. Brian Alvarez said on his radio show after WWE Fastlane that Sasha was supposed to grab the bottom rope during her roll-up pin where she defeated Nia Jax at last night’s show.
It would stand to reason they wanted it to end with a cheap win on Banks’ part because she’s been teasing a heel turn and having Nia lose in that manner wouldn’t have cost her nearly as much heat.
