UK Star Injured During NXT Tour, Asuka Breaks Another Record

WWE’s NXT roster is currently in the United Kingdom as part of their annual tour that sees the superstars perform at Download Festival in Donington Park, Derby.

It seems that Mark Andrews and Pete Dunne continued the feud that was started when Dunne attacked Andrews at the UK Championship event back in May. Dunne attacked Andrews as he performed on stage with his band “Junior” before Andrews then jumped from the stage and took out the current UK Champion.

The duo were then put into an eight-man tag match that saw Mark Andrews, Drew McIntyre, Aleister Black and Roderick Strong take on Pete Dunne, Bobby Roode and The Authors of Pain. Andrews was in the ring against Rezar when the NXT Tag Team Champion hit a clothesline and Andrews rolled out of the ring complaining about a neck problem.

Andrews was then stretchered out seemingly as a precaution and it is reported that it was just bruising. WWE will continue to monitor Andrews physically, but it seems that the injury is less serious than first thought

Elsewhere in NXT, Asuka has already broken Goldberg’s undefeated streak that was standing for more than a decade as she continues her reign as The Undefeated Empress, but this weekend Asuka broke another record when she surpassed CM Punk’s long-standing 434-day reign as World Champion.

Asuka’s most recent title defense was abruptly ended as she faced Ruby Riot at Download Festival and a botched move from the NXT Women’s Champion left Riot when a gash on her forehead and because of the amount of blood, officials decided to end the match.

Asuka’s next record is the 483-day reign of the WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day that was achieved back in December 2016 and would see her step closer to becoming the longest reigning Champion of all time.
