Fans saw a number of WWE talents released in 2020 due to coronavirus related budget cuts, and now WWE has just released two familiar names from their contracts.
WWE announced today that both Mickie James and Billie Kay have been released. Billie Kay signed with WWE in April of 2015, and she recently competed on the Grandest Stage of Them All when she teamed up with Carmella for the Tag Team Turmoil match during Night 1 of WrestleMania 37.
In 2016 Mickie James returned to WWE to compete for the NXT brand, and she signed a multi-year deal in December of that same year. She last competed in the 2021 Women’s Royal Rumble.
WWE posted the following announcement:
“Billie Kay and Mickie James released
WWE has come to terms on a release of Billie Kay and Mickie James as of today April 15, 2021.
We wish Billie and Mickie the best in all of their future endeavors.”
