WWE is always going to be adding new characters to their television shows. In fact, they have been known to snatch up all the top names they can and use them however they like. Sometimes it really works out and other times it isn’t as successful of a venture.
Hideo Itami has been a mainstay in NXT for the longest time and was kept there primarily because injuries suck and you can never keep them from happening. Even though he got some sick looking scars out of his surgeries he’s still in WWE’s developmental territory. Now it looks like the man formally known as Kenta might finally be looking for his chance to perform his OG GTS on a bigger stage.
Rockstar Spud is a former two-time X Division Champion from Impact Wrestling but the British wrestling star recently left his former company. He signed with WWE and is said to be jumping past NXT already.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports both Rockstar Spud and Hideo Itami are set to make WWE main roster debuts as part of 205 Live very soon. While Hideo Itami’s debut is said to be imminent all Rockstar Spud needs to do is iron out getting his visa and other pre-employment processes. But the two-time X-Division Champion has signed a contract with WWE and doesn’t look like he’ll be spending any time in NXT.
Both Hideo Itami and Rockstar Spud would bring different skills to the table and adding to the 205 Live roster in this respect shows a lot of confidence from WWE to establish the Cruiserweight brand into something special.
There was talk about changing up 205 Live a while ago due to the low WWE Network numbers and since Enzo Amore’s jump over to the Cruiserweight Showcase, it looks like things might be getting better.
Rockstar Spud and Hideo Itami will find themselves right at home in no time and give even more chances for great matchups live on the WWE Network every Tuesday night following SmackDown.
