It’s been over a month since Vince McMahon announced his retirement, and in recent weeks it’s become clear that there are a number of WWE stars Triple H wants to put in the spotlight. Triple H obviously has his favorites, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that people who were pushed under Vince McMahon’s regime are just going to suddenly disappear.
Vince McMahon became something of a mentor to Theory when the two started appearing together in segments on WWE programming last year. Theory has been featured consistently on WWE programming since then, and Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Theory’s status with the company isn’t expected to change.
“Dolph Ziggler is kind of the odd man out because they were gonna run with Ziggler and Theory at all the (house) shows to give Theory… the idea is to give Theory opponents that will give him experience, because Theory is the one that they really want to groom, and it appears Levesque hasn’t done anything to change that. They like the guy – good size, good look, very good athlete, just needs ring work.”
This week on Monday Night Raw, Theory interrupted Johnny Gargano after the former NXT Champion made his surprise return to WWE. The segment ended with Gargano hitting Theory with a superkick, so it will be interesting to see how Theory responds next week. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
