Donald Trump is a WWE Hall of Famer. He also happens to be the President of the United States and one of the most controversial political figures in the world right now. At the moment Donald is wrapped up in the world of politics, but as most of us know he has a long history with the entertainment world, and WWE.
Trump has worked closely with the McMahon family for years, and he’s made several appearances on WWE programming. However, WWE hasn’t made much mention of Donald since he got elected, and footage of the current President was recently excluded from a WWE sizzle reel that was shown at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour.
After the sizzle reel was shown Triple H was asked why President Trump was excluded, and he pointed out that other celebrities such as former President Barack Obama and former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger were excluded as well.
“To pick one is trying to get to a destination you’re trying to get to,” he scoffed (via Deadline).
Stephanie McMahon then joined the conversation and noted that WWE is a company that prides itself on being non partisan.
“WWE is non partisan,” added Stephanie McMahon, WWE’s Chief Brand Officer. “We are the greatest combination of every culture, gender, socio economic background.”
“We made a strategic decision to not put forth any type of partisan politics at all,” she said. Stephanie called it a “decision we made in our programming, not just in our sizzle.”
WWE is constantly reminding fans that they are a sports entertainment company, and it appears that they’ve made a conscious decision to focus on entertainment, and keep politics out of wrestling.
