Triple H On Shinsuke Nakamura Possibly Getting Called Up To The Main Roster

Shinsuke Nakamura made his WWE debut during WrestleMania weekend earlier this year, when he defeated Sami Zayn at NXT TakeOver: Dallas. Shinsuke has become a two time NXT Champion since making his debut, and he’s also become one of the brand’s top stars. There’s no denying that NXT has been good to Nakamura, but there are quite a few fans out there who are getting anxious because they want to see him get called up to the main roster as soon as possible.

Triple H is the mastermind behind NXT, and he recently spoke to ESPN about how far the brand has come. He talked about the fan reaction to the fact that Shinsuke Nakamura hasn’t been called up yet, and Triple H noted that the NXT Champion is on the right path.

“One of the things that’s funny to me — I always laugh at it — is when people say to me, ‘I watch Nakamura every week in NXT. I don’t know why they don’t put him on Raw so I can watch him on Raw every week. You’re getting to see him, right? You’re getting to see him doing what he does, in a big way. The opportunities are there. He’s got that clean path now to get here, when he gets here he might go there, he might go back.”

During the early days of NXT it was looked at as simply a developmental brand, but over the past few years it’s become so much more. Triple H also noted that in the years to come fans will likely see more movement between the Raw, SmackDown and NXT rosters.

“We say that it’s developmental, but at the same time it’s a third brand — 200 events this year, specials and the weekly show itself which are one of the most popular things on the Network. I think over the years you’re gonna begin to see Raw is its own brand, SmackDown is its own brand, NXT — you’re gonna see people move around. It’s no longer gonna be just, this guy got called up, it’s gonna be maybe ‘this guy got moved over, she got moved here,’ and see that transference of talent.”

Although Triple H’s answers in regards to Shinsuke Nakamura potentially getting called up might not satisfy some fans, there’s no denying that Shinsuke is doing some great work in NXT. His feud with Samoa Joe has been one of the best things about NXT in 2016, and fans will get the chance to watch their recent NXT Championship match from Osaka, Japan on Wednesday night when a special 2 hour episode of NXT airs on the WWE Network.
