Following his match with Kazuchika Okada at Wrestle Kingdom 11, Kenny Omega has been a very hot topic in the wrestling world. After Omega failed to defeated Okada, he told the world that he would be taking time away from Japan to reassess his future, and as soon as Omega made the announcement people immediately began talking about the possibility of him joining WWE.
John Cena has been trolling fans with Kenny Omega references all week long, and Omega has said that he if does end up in WWE someday he would like to face John Cena. Triple H recently spoke to ESPN to promote WWE’s United Kingdom Championship tournament, and he didn’t shy away from the Kenny Omega questions when asked if he’s interested in signing the star.
“As far as a Kenny Omega goes, I’m just interested in talent, period. If somebody is talented as a performer and they wanna come work for the WWE, if they wanna come to the largest platform in the world where they can truly show what they do off on a global basis, then WWE is the choice for them. If they wanna come work for us and they’re very talented, then I’m interested in talking to them, and that’s across the board.”
It remains to be seen if Kenny Omega has any serious interest in making the jump to WWE, but it seems like Triple H has left the door open for discussions if Omega wants to talk.
“To me, anytime anybody questions me on a talent — Am I interested in them? — the fact that you’re questioning me on them means that person is probably pretty talented, so, yes, I’m interested.”
Thanks to John Cena’s recent teases on Instagram, fans have been hoping that we might see Kenny Omega make a surprise appearance at the Royal Rumble. But fans shouldn’t hold their breath as Kenny Omega’s deal with NJPW expires on January 31st, and the Royal Rumble is set to take place on January 29th.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens with Kenny Omega’s future, but one thing’s for sure, if he doesn’t resign with NJPW before his deal expires, he could potentially be the hottest free agent in all of wrestling in just a few weeks time.
