Last summer was full of twists and turns for WWE fans as Seth Rollins seemingly suffered an injury during his match with LA Knight at Saturday Night’s Main Event. However, it was later revealed to be a ruse when Seth Rollins successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on CM Punk after Punk defeated Gunther to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.
In WWE Unreal season 2 it was revealed that Triple H told Cody Rhodes about the angle and insisted that he not repeat the idea to anybody. He went on to explain that beyond Cody only a few people knew about the angle ahead of time.
“We’re kayfabing this like a motherf*****, so I don’t want you to mention it to anybody because everybody will feel, ‘Well, Hunter told everybody, and now I got out.’ The only people that really know: Me, Bruce [Prichard], Ed [Koskey], Bobby Roode, Seth and LA. [Paul] Heyman knows because he was there when I came up with it. I don’t know what move they’re going to do yet, but he’ll do something toward the end of the match where he blows his knee out, and LA sets up for the next thing. But like, Seth ain’t—he’s not coming. He’s down. He goes to Jess [referee]. Jess gives the X. Medical comes out, legit. Goes to him. He’ll call an audible, which Jess will go tell LA Knight.”
Triple H also talked about the referees involvement when he added, “Did the referee need to know? No. Her responsibility is to report if somebody is injured or not injured. Did medical need to know? Yes. Because I can’t let them believe an injury is real. If they believe an injury is real, they have the power to shut it all down. A wise man once told me there are two people you can’t lie to in life: your lawyer and your doctor.”
Unfortunately for Seth he suffered a legitimate injury a few months later when he faced off against Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel. Currently Seth is sitting on the sidelines and it’s not clear when he will be returning to in-ring competition.
Stay tuned for updates.
