In 2020, Edge did the unthinkable when he came out of retirement and returned to the ring at the 2020 Royal Rumble. The Hall of Famer then went on to have a three year run with WWE that wrapped up recently. After his WWE contract expired Edge made the jump to AEW and his big move got the wrestling world talking.
During the WWE Fastlane post-show press conference Triple H addressed Edge jumping to AEW while making it clear that he wishes the Rated R Superstar nothing but the best.
“Time. Time was right for him, time was right for us. I think he had an amazing career and an amazing sendoff here. And I think he felt like he had done what there was to do. I think we sort of felt, ‘Yeah, think you’re right’.
“And I wish him the best. I think he said it the other day, there’s no animosity here, there’s no hard feelings. He’s doing what’s right for him and his family and I’m happy for him. Very, very happy for him. I sent him that in a message. ‘I’m happy for you’ and I’m proud of him.
Edge made his big debut with AEW at WrestleDream and he has since made appearances on Dynamite and Collision. His first match with AEW will take place on Dynamite this week when Adam Copeland faces off against Luchasaurus. Stay tuned for updates.
