Ahead of WWE Monday Night Raw this week it was revealed that Chief Content Officer Triple H would be making a huge announcement on the show, and people immediately started talking about what the announcement could be. During the show the announcement was hyped up as something that would rock WWE to its very foundation and The Game made his way down to the ring at the top of the second hour to a big ovation from the crowd.
The fans chanted “Triple H” as he got on the mic and talked about how he had the privilege of defending the WWE Championship against John Cena in this very building at WrestleMania 22. He said he’s out here tonight to talk about Roman Reigns who is coming up on 1,000 days as champion. Triple H praised Reigns and said “he is that damn good.”
Triple H went on to say that Roman did something smart when he negotiated himself into a position where he doesn’t have to defend his championship frequently. He said that’s good for Roman Reigns, but not for WWE. The Game said when Roman Reigns gets drafted he will take the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship to whatever brand he joins, and the other brand will get a new champion.
It was then announced that at Night of Champions on Saturday, May 27th a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion will be crowned and he unveiled a new belt. He said that the new champion will defend the belt any place, anywhere, and they will be a champion that the fans can be proud of.
The exact details regarding who will be competing for the championship and how the new champion will be crowned were not revealed. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
