Recently Battleground Championship Wrestling held an event at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia which was advertised as a Tribute To The Extreme and originally D-Von Dudley was set to appear. D-Von was set to appear in the corner of Bully Ray during his match with Matt Cardona, but WWE pulled D-Von from the event.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that D-Von went through John Cone in talent relations and he approved the appearance and believed based on D-Von’s contract with WWE that he was able to do things like that because he’s not a wrestler. Bruce Prichard nixed the appearance and it ended up on the desk of Triple H.
D-Von told Triple H that he was going to do the booking because he gave his word on it. Triple H didn’t give his approval and it’s being reported that Triple H basically told D-Von that if he moved forward with the appearance he would be fired.
WWE claimed they didn’t want D-Von in any physical risk, but he wasn’t scheduled for any physicality during the event. BCW recently issued a statement on the situation which reads as follows:
Hey guys. I have a follow up statement to the situation with the WWE that I addressed in the ring this past Saturday. After having several conversations today I now know that everything that went down with D-Von was a misunderstanding. The wwe did not intentionally pull Dvon to hurt our show. I won’t get into those details but if I had the information then that I have now I wouldn’t have made the comments I made. It felt as if we were under attack and I reacted in the defense of our company. I can’t thank everyone enough for the support you showed and the future for The Battleground is limitless!
