Over the last few years there have been a number of stars to watch in NXT, and Oba Femi has established himself as a force to be reckoned with throughout his time with the brand.
Back in October, Oba Femi’s NXT North American Championship reign came to an end when he was defeated by Tony D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc. Femi has not been present at NXT events since Halloween Havoc which led many to question if he was done with the company, or heading to the main roster.
Fightful Select reports that Oba Femi has been enjoying time off in his home country of Nigeria. It’s being said that he’s not dealing with any type of injury or visa issue that would prevent him from stepping into the ring. An exact date for Oba Femi’s return has not been revealed, but the word going around is that he’ll be back “sooner rather than later.”
There’s some uncertainty regarding Oba Femi’s contract status with WWE. However, one source noted they would be shocked if WWE didn’t extend the deal Femi signed in 2021.
The former NXT North American Champion has impressed Shawn Michaels and other NXT officials. Triple H is said to be a “very big fan” of Oba Femi, but there’s no word on if there are any plans for him to get called up to the main roster.
Stay tuned for more updates on Oba Femi’s status as they become available.
