Triple H On Why He Was Afraid Of Daniel Bryan Leaving WWE

It’s been a long road for Daniel Bryan, but WWE finally cleared him for in ring competition a few weeks ago. Bryan spent much of his free time over the last two years meeting with doctors in an attempt to get cleared, and once he did get cleared by doctors outside of WWE, he was open about saying he would be interested in wrestling elsewhere when his contract expires in September.

But now all is well because Bryan will be wrestling in a WWE ring once again at WrestleMania 34. However, Triple H did tell ESPN that he was afraid of Bryan leaving WWE and going to wrestle for a promotion that wouldn’t put his health first.

“Part of me was so afraid in the period of time when it [was] all going down that he was going to walk and say ‘forget it’ and go wrestle for someone else that doesn’t care, that doesn’t take their health into consideration — because that’s pretty much everywhere else — and risk his life and his health and his family and his baby and risk all of it. And it’s not worth that. We take enough risk every day in what we do. Every day.”

Triple H also reflected on his match with Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 30, and he noted that he put extra pressure on himself to make Bryan look good.

“I put so much more pressure on myself to [lose] to somebody than I ever did to win a title because … I just want it to be [such a big moment] for this guy,” said Levesque. “Watching that story evolve over that long period of time — from a behind-the-scenes standpoint — being behind it with him and being like, ‘Man, I know this is not the plan right this moment, but this is where we need to go.’ Just seeing that feeling and getting to that moment, having that match with him and having that moment, and knowing what’s coming later and being out there in that moment for him … when you have the circumstances that all work out to make this fairy-tale moment — it’s just awesome.”

Triple H and Daniel Bryan will both be in action at WrestleMania 34 next Sunday, as Triple H will be teaming with Stephanie McMahon to take on Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey, and Daniel Bryan will be teaming with Shane McMahon to take on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
