The night before the Royal Rumble, NXT TakeOver: Phoenix is set to air live on the WWE Network, and today Triple H talked about TakeOver and more on a conference call.
All Elite Wrestling has been shaking things up in recent weeks, and during the call Triple H acknowledged that WWE is aware of AEW.
According to the former World Heavyweight Champion, WWE will monitor everything and continue to do what’s best for the fans.
“Something we’ll keep an eye on. We’ll do what’s right for us, our fanbase…we’ll continue to monitor everything. When you’re a content provider, we compete against everything. We’ll continue to do what’s best for business for WWE.”
The emergence of AEW is certain to change the way that WWE does business, as it’s already been reported that the company is trying to lock talent in to longer deals, and it seems unlikely that any release requests will be granted now that there’s another company with big money behind it.
