The Survivor Series premium live event is one of WWE’s biggest shows of the year, and the company decided to switch things up for Survivor Series this year. The traditional five on five elimination style matches were not part of the card this time around as WWE decided to present two WarGames matches.
The change seems to have been well received, but that doesn’t mean that WWE is done with traditional Survivor Series matches completely. Triple H recently addressed the future of the match during the post-show press conference and he said that everything is being evaluated.
“I don’t think we’re done with anything. I think that when we look at it together as a whole, it’s about what’s best for our fans in the moment. Sometimes stuff needs a break for a while.”
“I think it was the right year [to change things up]. We all looked at it and decided internally that it was the right year for us to maybe freshen up the concept a little bit, that either the five-on-five tags and maybe even just the straight-out ‘Raw’ versus ‘SmackDown’ was a bit tired and maybe needed a refresh. So that’s what we did.”
